I noticed something kind of similar while using writelog during field day
on RTTY....
The function keys were not behaving...for instance, we had F2 set up as CQ
and F3 as their report, F4 was QSL and TNX QRZ etc... but sometimes when
you hit F3 or F4 it would send F2 (CQ)... we traced it down to a high level
of RF in the shack... one of our antennas was directly over the building,
and even though we were running no linear, we had to be very careful about
where we placed our bandpass filters (separate Dunestar's on each
transmitter)...if the bandpass filter was laying on top of any of the
cables, say the network cable or mouse cable, the program would act erratic
and even lock the computer up on occasion.
Also, the Windom that was stretched over the building was used primarily
for SSB after we discovered the problem...We started out on RTTY on that
antenna, and the field strength meter inside the shack was pegged on
transmit....switching the RTTY transmitter to the beam which was further
away from the building resulted in a much lower level of RF in the
building, and NO MORE sporadic operation.
The ground system we had the equipment tied to in the building was a little
questionable, as we were located on the third story of the building. No
doubt a better ground would have improved the situation.
