I have a bunch of snap on chokes so I'll give that a try and I'm sure that
must have been the problem. This was the first contest where I had rig
control thus the reason for my newbie question.

Tom, I agree with Mike. Sounds like RF screwing up random bits.
Make sure everything's grounded well and wind a toroid on the
rig end of the CI-V cable.
