[WriteLog] RITTY and 2R

I believe what Jerry said to be true, that you could possibly run RITTY with
two separate sound cards. If this is true, then it seems likely that you might
be able to run RITTY in an SO2R setup with WriteLog on one PC, but you
would need two copies of RITTY in separate subdirectories. When you start
RITTY from a RTTYrite window, it starts it from whatever path you have
entered in the writelog.ini file. In a second RTTYrite window, you could start
a 2nd RITTY program from a separate subdirectory since the second RTTYrite
window has it's own section in the writelog.ini file. RITTY now comes with
a WriteLog pif file that allows it to run in a small window with WriteLog. I
don't know how any of this would react trying to run two at the same time.

But before anyone gets excited about this, I must honestly say that it does not
seem like it's worth the trouble. Before anyone considers using RITTY at all,
they better check their soundcard to make sure it is going to work with RITTY.
RITTY was designed to use the Creative Labs 16 ISA board or compatible.
I presently have the Creative Labs 16PCI card in one of my PC's and it does
not work with RITTY. Brian, K6STI states "Creative Labs PCI cards are not
entirely Sound Blaster compatible and so they are not compatible with RITTY".

Having not ever gotten RITTY to work on my other PC either, and having never
used
it, I can't say anything bad about it. Many swear by it and from hearing others
brag about it, I can only think it is a great DOS program. But why go back to
DOS
when Wayne's RTTYrite works GREAT with a soundcard already in Windows?

Can RITTY be that much better under contest conditions? I truly doubt it. And
when you consider the simplicity of setting up for SO2R using a single stereo
sound card in WriteLog vs. going back to a single channel DOS program, RITTY
is a hard sell for the price.

I was hoping to get RITTY working with WriteLog successfully and tell everyone
how great it is, but I can't. Not yet anyway. After careful consideration, I
think
I will stick with using RTTYrite alone with a soundcard in WriteLog. I can't
argue
with the success I've had with it.

Just my opinion for what's it's worth. I encourage others to work on the RITTY
solution.
