[WriteLog] Quieting Down a Computer Fan?

I have a new (to me) Gateway GP7/550 computer.  The fan is awfully 
loud.  Is this normal with a P3?  My HP P1/166 was awafully quiet in 
comparison.

Can anyone suggest a method to quiet it down?  Gateway Tech Support 
won't talk to me.
