I also was at K4JA's for the contest. We have the four radios networked
together correctly in that we assign the letters for each PC as well as the
network name. In the WriteLog log window we also see the netw abbreviation
and the correct letter for the radio making the QSO. I don't remember seeing
an 'r' for which radio was used as there was a one-to-one relationship
between between the transmitter and the network (no SO2R-type operation)
which would correctly identify which radio made the contact.
So, the first issue is getting the correct transmitter to show in the
Cabrillo file in that it appears WriteLog assumes M/2 as having only two
radios. Being back in Chicago, we're checking back in VA on whether the 'log
which radio makes the contact' was actually checked and seeing how we can
get at least the network ID into the Cabrillo file. That will be miracle
one.
The second miracle is still trying to match up to the rules in that we don't
have two transmitters on site, we have four of which only two were on the
air at any given time. We were very careful to match band changes to
particular transmitters to make sure we followed the band change rules, for
example. So to provide a 'radio 1, radio 2' type of log for the Cabrillo
file when using four transmitters is not obvious to us (and if it's not
obvious to me, then it's really hard ;>)...)
The question you asked of the contest committee assumed that you only had
two radios in the contest and WL would correctly show 'Radio 1, Radio 0' but
did not address the situation with more than two radios doing the same
category. So your good question still has us a bit stumped as to how to
proceed (but know that we are building Excel spreadsheets to address getting
the log formatted right).
Any insights here? Any other M/2 stations out there using more than 2 radios
in the contest? Is this an enhancement opportunity? It might also apply to
M/M operations where there is more than one radio per band where one is
running and the other is looking for multipliers on that same band with
amplifier interlocks to prevent more than one signal at a time (to be
competitive in the M/M category, this set up is almost a necessity).....
Thanks for your continued research. We're still looking for answers on this
one so we know what to be doing this weekend!

The radio information definitely isn't in your Cabrillo file (it'd be at the
end of the line).
I did some more testing just now (at the expense of my employer!) and there
seems to be an additional setup requirement that I didn't include
originally:
The PCs have to be connected via the network, each having a different
"Network ID" - I used "A" and "B" for my stations. Note that this Network ID
is different from and unrelated to the "Network Display Name" you can enter
from the Setup menu. This is part of the normal steps for setting up
networking in WriteLog, so it shouldn't be a problem unless you used the
same network ID on all computers (that would be Very Bad Thing(tm))
When you look at the log from within WriteLog, scroll to the far right side
of the log window and you should see "r" and "NETW" - the "r" apparently
identifies which radio on a particular computer was used, and the "NETW"
identifies which computer on the network was used -- it's this NETW value
that clues WriteLog to include the radio identifier in the cabrillo file. If
it's not present in your log, you've got a real problem!
I did the following steps to "simulate" two networked PCs and the Cabrillo
file generated as it should have - basically I pretended I had logs from two
different machines that had lost their network connection and the logs were
later "merged" in WriteLog - (this was done with v.10.22B; my other testing
over the weekend was v10.24F):
1. Start a new log (select ARRL DX as the contsst)
2. Select Setup | Log which Radio Makes the QSO (make sure it's checked)
3. Select Setup | Register to accept network connections
4. Enter a station ID of "A" when prompted (the prompt says "Enter a letter
(A through Z) distinguishing this station from all others being networked")
5. Enter a couple "dummy" QSOs - be sure to set band/mode to something valid
if the radio isn't turned on and provding that information.
6. Save the log.
7. Start another new log (again, pick ARRL DX as the contest)
8. Select Setup | Log which Radio Makes the QSO (make sure it's checked)
9. Select Setup | Register to accept network connections
10. Enter a station ID of "B" when prompted
11. Enter a couple "dummy" qsos - be sure to set band/mode as appropriate.
12. Save the log using a different name than in step 6
13. Select File | Merge... and select the log files saved in step 6.
You should now see a log that has several QSOs with a NETW of "A" and
several with a NETW of "B" at the far right of the log window.
14. Save the merged log under another new name
15. Contest | Cabrillo File
16. Be sure to select "Multi-Two" as the category
When you're done, the cabrillo log should resemble this:
