Normally you'd have your microphone connected to the PC, and the output of
the PC going to your rig. This enables you to quickly and easily record
on-the-fly messages for the various F-Keys. And it makes it easy for
Writelog to manage the audio input to the rig -- if you have the audio from
the computer coming from one source and the mic input from another, you're
likely to have a "hot" (live) mic when you're playing back the messages
from the computer.
If you use a Heil headset, the mic will plug right into the sound card; you
can then wire the output of the sound card into the Heil adapter (using
just 1/8" mono plugs) - you probably need an impedance transformation of
some sort to match the microphone impedance -- see the "Support" section on
the Writelog web site for information on building that impedance matcher.
