Ed, THANK GOODNESS you didn't remember correctly - You about gave me a heart
attack, since my tower is in a field more than 500 ft from my shack!
However, snipping from the ARRL General Rules:

3.7. All transmitters and receivers must be located within a 500-meter
diameter circle, excluding antennas.

EX-cluding antennas!  ;-)

Never even considered THAT when deciding tower location!  WHEW!
