Icom allows you to support multiple radios on a single comport using the
CT17 or a clone. I propose Writelog support up to 4 radio's using the
following method:
In the writelog.ini
[Ports]
CommSlot1=1
CommSlot2=1
CommSlot3=1
CommSlot4=1
Writelog would need to have logic that says if any two commslots are equal
then do not open the comport twice (that's what it currently tries to do)
Under Setup Ports select the different Icom radios plugged into the CT17.
If the radio's are of the same type then you would need to use a different
model in the ports window and change the CIV address in the radio. (One
Interface cannot support two radios using the same address and since the ini
option for changing the address of a radio applies to all selections of that
radio in writelog you can't use the override feature.)
Writelog would need to use the full address when talking to the rig which it
may already do.
There would also need to be a way for determining which entry window is
associated with which rig because "rig on comm. 1" could not be used for all
four rigs. Perhaps have an option to name the rig in the ini file.
Do other people think this is worthwhile to free up another comport?
