The problem with SSB audio from Sound cards is one reason I don't use the
sound card for anything except say PSK 31. I have Heil mics with the
HC-4 element and a Telex Contester that is broader in response.
Neither works very well with the sound cards I have tried. I use
outboard voice keyers as I like to have the following happen:
1. No feedback or squeal that I find happens with sound cards.
2. Strong!!!!! audio on one narrow frequency as occurs with the
HC-4 element.
I use everything else in writelog including SO2R. I also make sure I
use the Heil or Telex mic to record messages on the DVK as the inboard
mic sound like the sound card audio....almost sounds as bad as some of
the "audio" hams I hear (so flat its pitiful).
Maybe Wayne or W9XT can come up with a sound card for the SSB Contester.
