Works here. I think each carat is a fraction of a WPM, so you might not be
able to tell the difference. Try putting in a bunch to test, like
<<<<<<<<<<<<<5NN>>>>>>>>>>>>. If that doesn't work, try putting a character
before the first speed change character (like X<<<<<<5NN>>>>>>>). I have
stuff like %C and %B before mine.
