If the stations are using break in, then it would seem to be a shortcoming
of their radio.  If you derived PTT from the program wouldn't that stay true
during the entire transmission, thus full break-in would be thwarted?  Of
course it would be solution to cover up a problem in such a case.

As to extra space, I use the ^ character generously to make what I sent a
little easier to copy, thus N^5^I^N.
