When using WL for RTTY I feed the MkV Main Rx Packet output into RITTY
via the sound card. I feed the audio from a separate receiver into a
PK-232. I have 2 print windows open, one for RITTY and one for the
PK-232. Works great but it takes me a long time to tune in signals
using the 232 tuning LED bar graph. The 232 does have V & H outputs for
a scope for the classic cross style tuning indicator but there's no room
at the operating position for my 13" x 16" x 24" scope. My recent
request for suggestions re a computer based cross indicator didn't
generate any suggestions other than, "Why would you use a 232 when sound
card based TNCs are so much better?" Well, this made me wonder if I
could have 2 instances of RITTY running. This would be great as the
tuning indicator problem goes away, I get rid of a box at the operating
position, and RITTY is far superior to the 232.
Well, I tried selecting RITTY as the TU in both print windows. I got a
message saying that RITTY had exited and do I want to restart it. Of
course I said Yes. Got the same error message. Kept getting it until I
said No. So, only one instance of RITTY. (Could I be asking too much
of a DOS program running under Win 98 SE? Could there be a conflict
with both instances of RITTY trying to use the L channel of the sound
card? If so, could there be some way of telling the 2nd instance to use
the R channel of the sound card?)
My question is, "Is there a way of getting two instances of RITTY running?"
If not, I'll explore the possibility of running RITTY for the Main Rx
and MMTTY for the separate Rx. If anyone has ever done this I would
appreciate whatever input you would care to give me.
It will be really hard to convince me that I shouldn't run RITTY at
all. :-)
