[WriteLog] MarkV / Field filter selection from software

I was curious if anyone has come up with an easy way to control the filter 
selection in each i.f. of the FT-1000MP MarkV / Field from the computer 
while running Writelog?  A couple of years ago someone suggested running 
K6SE's MPFilters program with a macro that would turn off Writelog long 
enough to allow MPFilters to grab the CAT port and set the filters and then 
turn Writelog back on.  I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a simpler 
implementation?
