Writelog works fine when you log the proper exchange.

Per the rules, the exchange for KH6 and KL7 is the state -- HI or AK -- and 
both get scored just fine in WL.  I don't think the rules have changed in a 
good long time - my logs as far back as 1999 show this same exchange.

If KH6 and KL7 are sending serial numbers, just log HI or AK as appropriate 
and keep going. And maybe tell them they should be sending their state instead.
