The problem was that both the rig and Writelog were set to "Auto" for baud
rate. Once I changed both to 4800 baud, everything now seems to work fine. I
suspect the problem would also have been solved with only one or the other
left set to "Auto", but I didn't test that.

Subject: IC-703?
Last night during the Spartan Sprint I used my IC-703 for the first time
with Writelog. Writelog could communicate with the rig, but seemed VERY slow
in responding, especially to frequency/band changes on the rig. It also had
a tendency to disable the narrow cw filter when I commanded it to a new
frequency via the callsign entry on the logging window.
Any similar observations, thoughts, or suggestions?
