By the way:
After "downgrading" to the old NetDDE modus the networks now works for more
than 12 hour more or less bug free.
I am still of the opinion that there is a bug in WL´s TCPIP system...!
The machines run Windows 2000 including Service Pack 4 !
Forgot to say that !

Subject: [WriteLog] TCPIP experiences
Hello
Our crew is running the WPX CW in a multi multi setup and we do have some
problems according the network.
Let´s explain our setup:
We have running 8 PCs in network. Named A to H here.
And we have some hubs also.
A & B & C connected to one hub.
D & E & F connected to a second hub.
Both hubs connected to a third hub where computer G is connected.
These are our logging PCs located in different shacks.
The third hub brings up the data connections into our kitchen where we have
PC H and I for watching the contest and doing some statitistics.
All PCs running the same domain name and fixed IPs.
We tested the network with running WL simulator and got some problems when
trying the fastest traffic.
No other really problems.
Now, during the contest:
We named all PCs in Writelog according there shack. So 10m is PC10m, 15m
PC15m, etc. !
All PCs connected to one PC for packet.
During the first two ours we got heavy failures....!
Different PCs went out of the network and could not log in anymore.
No real system which PCs failed. Sometimes this one, other times another
one.
Mostly we were not able to get them back into network.
AND: When closing WL, the taskmanager still shows a prozess WLnetdde....!
WHY while running TCPIP ?
Then we tried to switch the names:
In stead of PC10m or PC15m we gave them the IP numbers.
This made it running for a bit more than one hour, but than all crashed back
again !
All PCs can be found back in the network with Windows.
All PCs can be pinged perfectly with times less than 10ms.
Downloads via the network go with more than 120kB/s.
We changed the hubs/routers to others.
We tried Ferrits.
Etc. Etc. Etc.
Can someone confirm that or better:
HAS SOMEONE ANY IDEA WHAT CAUSES THE TROUBLES ?
Jochen
PS: We went back to NetDDE and until now it runs OK for a bit more than one
hour.
