Ooops.  The power supply is from Cisco Systems p/n 34-0912-02 Rev A0
(5V 2.5A) supposedly replacement power supplies for Bay Network hubs. 
Looks like it was made by Delta Electronics & has an inline bullet
filter about an inch from the 2.5mm? connector.

A local ham told me that he has a large 5V non-switching power supply
that I can try in its place.  That will at least eliminate the power
supply.  I'll let everyone know this wknd if it works.
