Thanks to all who responded.
I found the fix. The problem was that WriteLog was not talking to my radio. The
radio manual said to set the CI-V baud rate to 9600 bbs. The CI-V manual said
to set the baud rate to 1200 bbs.
In set up for ports in the WriteLog program I set the baud rate to 9600 bbs, I
have now changed this setting to auto or anything below 9600 bbs and now all is
well.
