A lot depends on the laptop and chipset. On both of my dell's I can use the
laptop display and a separate monitor. With Windows XP, you need to set up
the properties so that each display is separate, not "cloned". You can also
set which one is "1" and "2". The Dell laptops use ATI Radeon mobility
chips.

Subject: [WriteLog] Dual Monitors with Laptops?
For a variety of reasons, I'd like to use a laptop in the shack, replacing
my desktop computer.
I use two monitors now, and am wondering if -- and how -- one can use two
monitors with a laptop.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
