I have always used NetDDE networking with WriteLog. It always worked and never
crashed. After putting the station back together
this week and adding the second computer, I can no longer get NetDDE to work
like it used to. The only change made from when it
last worked was an upgrade to the XP Pro machine. I read the info on the WL
website and decided to go with Tcp/IP networking for
WL. It works, but when I disconnect the network on either computer (one
running XP Pro and the other running Win98se), I get a
WlogNetDde.exe error. It doesn't crash WL, but I can't reconnect the network
without first closing and restarting WL.
I let the network running through the week and on two occasions the network
failed on its own.
The XP Pro machine gets a WlogNetDde.exe - Application error "The instruction
at "0x7c809783" referenced memory at "0x00ce9718". The
memory could not be "written"."
The Win98se machine gets a Wlognetdde error and says "This program has
performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." It
also does not crash WL, but I must restart WL in order to get the network going
again.
I also get the error when I close the program while the network is connected.
Any suggested on getting this thing to run solid? I'm not real confident with
Tcp/IP networking with WL right now and really don't
have the time to figure out why NetDDE is not working.
Thanks,
Don AA5AU
