I have a writelog.ini file problem. I'm running XP Home with service pack 3
with updates current. I have been using Writelog successfully for many
years. I'm currently running ver. 10.62. Here's my problem and what ideas
I've tried so far. Earlier this month I decided to participate in the
HPM/140 ARRL special events activity. I created a "new log" and used the
"custom" selection to create an entry window that met my requirements for
the special event. I also networked another machine in the shack. Not
exactly sure when my new problem occurred, but it was a day or 2 after I
started using the newly created .wl file for the event. When I try to change
the setup from within the program - say, port setup or "window to open at
startup" and save the configuration, the changes are not saved. I can go
back into the setup menu and nothing has changed (I can create or edit
"CW/RTTY/SSB" messages and the changes will be saved). I can edit the
writelog.ini file located in the windows directory with notepad and the
changes will be implemented when I open the program. The .ini file is being
recognized in only one direction. This problem is on both of my machines. I
have tried older .ini files that I had saved and also let Writelog create a
new .ini file. I've used the "system restore" accessory in XP to go back to
a date prior to any of my recent Writelog activity. NO LUCK.

Here's another dandy piece of the puzzle. I also use a program called
DXBase. It is my everyday logging program which I have used almost every day
for years. It also has an ini file in the windows directory. I can no longer
change the ini file from within the DXBase program but can successfully
change the ini file with notepad and the program responds accordingly.

Hope someone give me some direction.

Thanks in advance and 73,

Paul K9NU
