WriteLog users:
The delay in sales of WriteLog registrations continues, and, because sales
will not resume for some time more, I must share information on changes in
the works for the way WriteLog is sold. Ron, K5DJ, has decided to retire
from his role of the sole agent selling WriteLog. The continued delay is
that there is not yet a replacement. The developers, Steve, N9OH, and
myself, Wayne, W5XD, plan to continue to upgrade WriteLog and offer it for
sale. But we haven't settled exactly how this will happen. Its going to take
more time to work that out, which is why I am posting this email.
I had hoped that, on recovery from his surgery, Ron would resume his former
role, but he has informed me that his decision is final. There are no hard
feelings regarding this change. On the contrary, long time users may
remember that back in the 1996 time frame, I attempted to sell WriteLog
myself but failed to get enough users to make it worthwhile. I discontinued
my business efforts in 1996. It was Ron that approached me in 1997 saying
that he thought the product was good enough to sell. We came to a financial
agreement with Ron doing all the marketing and sales and by mid 1997 he was
underway and essentially nothing has changed the business arrangement since
then--13 years of smooth operation (of the business by Ron and his XYL,
Wanda, if not the software product, which was my work, with N9OH adding his
contributions later).
So I use this opportunity to publicly thank Ron for taking my marketing
failure and turning it into a success that has lasted those 13 years.
