Thanks to help from AA5AU and AL9A, Dave Bernstein AA6YQ has
duplicated at least one cause of the the UserPara.ini pop-up
error.
The error pop-up messages are in Japanese (even though they
may not appear that way due the the lack of Japanese language
support in most Western versions of Windows) because the system
font is not properly initialized when the pop-up is generated.
Dave has fixed that issue in a future version of MMTTY.
The specific error message that Dave tracked down (the one
he could create) translates as: "can't update Userpara.ini"
That problem may be because MMTTY is installed in the
C:\Program Files (x86) (Vista/Windows 7) and User Account
Control is preventing applications from writing to the
"protected" (special system) directory tree. The other
source of the error could be that the MMTTY directory is
marked "Read Only" or UserPara.ini itself is marked as
"Read Only" (Dave's case).
For those receiving a UserPara.ini pop-up when the MMTTY
plug-in starts, reinstall MMTTY to a directory not under
C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(x86), then uninstall
and reinstall the MMTTY Plug-in for Writelog. If your
versions of MMTTY are not installed in the Program Files
tree, make sure the MMTTY directory is not set "Read Only"
and confirm that UserPara.ini is not "Read Only."
