I am doing a full install of 10.79 on an XP Pro machine as part of our
system upgrade at NK7U. I am seeing some really odd behavior and could use
some help. This is the first time I have ever had troubles with WriteLog in
this area so I could use some help.

Here is the story -- if there are other details I can provide just ask.

The basic machine is a 2.8 GHz, P4 with 1GB of RAM , 40GB hard drive, and XP
Pro with SP3 and all current updates.

1. I installed the program into C:\WriteLog, not the C:\Program
Files\WriteLog default. I have done this before on an XP Home machine with
no problem.

2. When I start WriteLog the main screen appears, the one that provides the
list of Recently used. contest files, asks if you want to Start a new log..
, etc. Looking at Windows Task Manager it shows the WriteLog application
running and the WriteL32.exe process running.

3. If I click "Start a New log" -- the main screen goes away and the
WriteLog application disappears from the Applications Tab though the
WriteL32.exe process is still running but with 00% CPU . But then it never
comes back with the Log Window and WriteLog Contest Selection Menu.
Similarly, if I click "Browse for existing logs" the main screen goes away,
I am presented with the Open Menu, I can chose an existing file, click Open
and then the Open screen disappears and nothing ever comes back.

Now for the few odd observations:
A. I actually had it working once. I had to do the install twice. After the
second time when I started WriteLog I saw the main screen, clicked "Start a
New Log" and the Logging Screen and WriteLog Contest Selection Menus
appeared. I was able to chose a contest and everything worked as expected.

B. I the situations where WriteLog disappears I wait a while, watch the disk
activity light stop blinking, note that WriteL32.exe is using no CPU cycles
and then do a Restart. When I do that I often see the Log Window briefly
flash on the screen before the system powers down. It is like this screen is
there, but it is not showing up on the screen.

If anyone can give me some advice it would be appreciated. I have
reinstalled WriteLog (without doing a de-install) but that has not solved
the problem.
