Eric,
When you connect to a telnet node and the WriteLog Packet Terminal window
opens check the Edit menu item. If the option called Single Operator is
checked WL will allow you to send packet spots, but not receive any. By
most contest rules using spotting assistance removes you from being a Single
Operator and places you in a multi category. The Packet Terminal section in
the WL Help manual says:
"Single Operator.
If you turn on this menu entry, then WriteLog allows you to originate spots,
but it does not use any incoming spots for the band map or multiplier
display."
Uncheck the Single Operator choice and spots should flow to the Band Map as
well as the Packet Spots window.
As for the calls that you placed on the Band Map appearing in the Packet
Window marked "local", check the [Entry] section of your writelog.ini file.
You will probably find the following command there:
LocalDupeChecksToPacket=1.
Several versions ago this was added to WL, per user requests I think. The
Help manual says, "Non-zero causes WriteLog to send dupe checked calls that
are to be sent to the band map, to also be sent to the Packet Window".
These calls are flagged in the Packet Window as "local" to differentiate
which spots came from the operator and which are coming from the telnet
node. If you don't like this feature change the 1 to zero or delete the
line from your ini altogether.
