[WriteLog] Confusing AFC Option With WL/MMTTY.

I think I have been tripped up by a feature of the MMTTY plug-in for 
WriteLog where you can enable "AFC is automatically turned OFF while 
there are letters in the CALL field."  (Rttyrite TNC Setup)

Could someone please explain to me what problem this option was 
designed to solve and the affects of operating with it on or off?
