FYI to anyone setting up for the Japan International DX CW Contest this
weekend. I've never worked this contest before and in setting up my log
discovered a small bug in the way the Entry window works. The exchange to
receive from JA stations is RST + a two digit Prefecture number. The
problem is after you enter the 2 digits in the PR field the cursor auto
advances back to the CALL field. If you're using "Enter sends
exchange/QRZ" this is a problem. Because the cursor has jumped back to the
CALL field instead of entering the call and sending QRZ, Enter sends your
report again and does not log the call.
Fortunately there is a simple fix. Go to Contest/Exchange format setup...
and click "No" when you are asked if you "...want to initialize ALL fields
in the exchange?" In the list of Exchange Fields displayed click on the PR
field name. In the list of field properties that displays click on "Tab
Only." This will prevent the cursor from auto advancing to the next field
when the second digit of the PR exchange is typed. Click on Save and then
OK. Also do a Setup/Save Configuration to retain your change. Now when
you type in the two digit PR number the cursor remains in the PR field and
pressing Enter logs the call and sends the QRZ message. If you do want to
go back to the CALL field to make a correction hit the Space bar.
