I will answer this question as a WL user and as a contest administrator.

WL user first.

The problem here is that WL is not able to correctly locate the callsign
based on default info in the cty.dat file.  WL gives us a tool to override
the automatic country assignment.  In the logging window, scroll to the
right to the column marked "C PREF".  If you double click on that column for
the QSO, you can enter a different prefix.  To put WL7RV in the USA, enter
"K".

This method is also useful for any other call that can't be automatically
identified.

Contest administrator opinion.

Please don't change the callsign or add extra prefix info to fool your
logging software into scoring the QSO correctly.  Now that most contests are
using computers for checking, the callsign needs to match up to what was
given over the air.  Computers compare text.  Is W0/WL7RV the same as WL7RV
the same as WL7RV/0?  Maybe, maybe not.
