'NL' is used in some contests as a single multiplier that combines
Newfoundland (VO1 or NF) and Labrador (VO2 or LB) into one contest
multiplier. In Round-Up, NF and LB are separate multipliers (see the Rule
5.2) Multipliers are simply a contest scoring thing. Contest multipliers
are not a political statement or an attempt to tell Canada how to organize
their provinces.

I recommend putting NF in the QTH column of WriteLog for your VO1VR QSO.
Yes, he literally sent 'NL' but we know from the call sign VO1 prefix that
the multiplier is NF. So, he "communicated" Newfoundland or NF and that's
what's important. For contest purposes that QSO is the NF multiplier.
WriteLog will then score the log correctly and the multiplier checklist
will reflect credit for NF.

The ARRL log checking will go by the call sign prefix to determine
multipliers and scoring. You won't be dinged for having NF in the QTH field
for that QSO, or NL. And log checking doesn't know or care what WriteLog
thinks the multipliers or score are. ;>)

During the Roundup this weekend V01VR sent me his province as being NL. NL
is not an acceptable province in WriteLog. The limited research that I did
suggests that NL and NF are now viewed as one province.

Should I edit the WriteLog QSO to reflect the NL he sent? If not, what
province is should I log?
