Joe,

It will work very good together by a QSK point of view. The tuner is nice
but
is like the transceiver built-in tuner: don't expect to much, it's designed
for
coaxial outputs with no more than 1:2.5 SWR.

Anyway you have to know that the FL-7000 thermal design is quite poor
and if you're taking long overs at 500-600W SSB, the internal protection
will stop the amp and will operate again after the tiny radiator will be
cool enough. For CW reduce the output to 350-400W and for casual RTTY,
to a safe 300W. For contests, buy a heavy duty amplifier. A special care
should be taken with the FT-1000D who easily can deliver 200-240w output:
adjust well the ALC rear-panel pot to prevent destroying of the input
resistive
attenuator if you forget the RF Power knob in a high position. Also, don't
ever
think to drive FL-7000 with FT-1000D without the appropriate Yaesu
interfacing
cable.

It's a nice appearance amplifier and tuner, but only for "lightweight"
purposes.

If the "tune free" station is not your ham career life goal, go for an
US-made
workhorse tube amplifier. They are many on the market, and the second
hand amps are not so expensive.

I have a 1000MP and I'm considering purchase of a FL-7000 amp (don't have
the deep pockets for the Quadra). Would appreciate any comments from anyone
using this combination. Haven't seen much literature about this amp and I'm
wondering how well does it interface with the MP, and does it have a built
in tuner?

Joe
