Well MOST mics sound good on the FT1000D !!!
I use an ex broadcast mic - An ECM77 from Sony, often seen on the tie or
lapel of a TV presenter, less than 0.5cms in dia, on the end of a home
made "boom" off a pair of PX660 (Cheap "Hi-Fi" appx 10UKP) cans - 8 Ohms
impedance - The combination sounds great to me and I am always getting
comments on the excellent quality. As for a "DX" sound, this combination
helped win HF Region 1 SSB field day this year from G6YB/P (have a look
and qsx on the web site http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/g3xsv/n
ews.) So I guess it's ok for DX as well!!
The ECM77 is rolled off at the LF end very slightly in the polarising
box to reduce "pops" other than that it's flat.
