I use the factory filters and they seem to work just fine. As I recall,
there may not be enough slots available for a _full_ complement of primary
rx filters _and_ a full set of aux. rx filters. 'Course Yaesu may have
altered the design since I purchased my FT1KMP in Feb of '98.

I am about to purchase a FT1000MP and would appreciate any comments on
  additional filters options.

  1) Has anyone had any experience with the International Radio filters
  versus the Yaesu filters?

2)The Yaesu narrower SSB filters are 2.0khz compared to the 2.1khz
International filters. I think the 2.0 is the better choice.

  3) The first IF cw filter provided is 500 hz. The International filters
are 400 hz. Any thought on cascading the first if 500hz filter with a
400hz second if filter. I would think that having both filters at the
same bandwidth would be preferred for optimum selectivity.

  4) I plan to put a narrow filter in the subreceiver. Any suggestions?

My thinking right now is to stay with the Yaesu filters. That way if
any
problems develop in the future and service is required, the Yaesu
filter
  can't be blamed!!

Thanks in advance for all replys.
