Ok, gang. Here's a weird one!

i have not tried adding coax yet. but check this out:

i think the 10-meter hamstick whip might be interacting with the van's
walls. the whip is mounted on the rear bumper and just 2" away from the
van's rear wall and van body. i noticed i can load the whip with the tuner
under 1.5:1...but when we drive around, the swr varies very greatly. i
think this is the whip swaying farther and closer to the van. i checked the
connections. none loose. the bumper mount is tight too. so i think the
swr sways as the antenna does. i even banged the FT-100D while transmitting
while i was parkd and not moving, thinking something inside the rig was
loose. no change in swr. it stayed at under 1.5:1. i even reved the engine
while stationary. no change in swr. the swr only sways high and low as i
drive, and van moves. i have not noticed this on ssb or other bands. only
on 10-meter FM. any suggestions?
