[Yaesu] FT-1500M programming question

I am only now trying out the ADMS-2F programming software. I can't get the
software to read the data from the radio.
I turn on the radio as instructed and the readout says CLONE. The
instructions then say to press the Mhz key. Then the readout momentarily
reads TX and then ERROR. The Read data screen eventually times out.
Any advice will be most welcome.
