I run the original MP's at 100 watts RTTY quite often. Keep in mind that
your duty cycle on RTTY is pretty close to 50 percent anyway as you spend
some significant amounts of time in RX mode, especially if you are SO2R.
I've never had a problem.

Subject: [Yaesu] Duty cycle question

Is Yaesu being overly cautious with their 50% duty cycle rating for RTTY?

I have a Mark V FT-1000MP Field which I use for RTTY contesting.
Following the instructions in the manual to feel the temperature of
the exhaust air and the cabinet, I've been gradually working the
power output up to 100 watts. Even at that level, the air and the
cabinet are barely warm to the touch.

This tells me it would have no trouble running at 100 watts during a
contest all day long.
