Well I got the FT990 I purchased in and like it so
far. Of course there are a couple of things I would
change, but that is true for every rig.

I thought the tuning rate was a little fast, so I
decided to do the mod in the manual to cut the tuning
rate in half.  I pulled out the circuit board solder
bridge the right places for CW and SSB to do the mod,
and found they were already done.  Now only was the
solder bridge there, but that pad was connected to the
adjacent diode via a short wire.  I haven't seen that
mod mentioned anywhere, does anyone have an idea what
the additional wire would do?  I think it is still
tuning at the normal rate instead of the reduced rate,
but will check again to make sure.
