[Yaesu] FT1000D Display flickering

I recently replaced the display in my FT1000 because the original one was
very dim. It was working very well until a few days ago when several of the
digits began flickering badly. However some of the digits are ok. Some of
the flickering digits go to full brightness when tuning to a different
frequency.
Anyone have a clue what's going on?
