These kind of problems can really drive someone crazy.  I had an old
Collins Radio KWM-2 that had the same time schedule.  It would drop the
speaker audio level about 10db, then come back up.  I just turned it on
about 30 minutes before I wanted to use it.  It took me about a year to
find a loose crimp on a chassis mount filter cap.  The only recommendation
is to wiggle wires and use freeze spray, and don't assume it has to be in
a specific location.  Otherwise, talk to yourself in short unfinished
sentences<grin>.
