Joe,
I doubt if the device requirements for a squelch circuit are very demanding
and therefore almost any matching type of silicon NPN or PNP device will
work. The squelch circuit is usually not very sophisticated as it detects
the change in noise in the IF limiter, and ends up switching the audio amp
circuit on. All devices working a essentially audio or DC levels.
Therefore I think most utility devices of the same type (NPN) will be
satisfactory.

Dos anyone have any 2SC372Y transistors? I need 3 to fix the squelch
circuit in an FT-227R( I have the service manual).
