Hello everyone..I managed to replace all 3 of the backlight bulbs in my
FT-5100 no problem and
when I applied power to the radio (before re-assembling it), I had all 3
bulbs lit up ok. Now that I have
re-assembled the radio, I have no backlighting whatsoever. I have checked
the bulbs and they are
still good. I have tried a cpu reset to no avail. I have re-attached the two
ribbon cables over and over
to no avail (the digits and everything else come on ok) The rest of the
display and radio works no problem.
I have now found that when the radio is on, that there is no voltage getting
to the front panel to
light up those lamps. My problem appears to be between the control panel
board and where the
ribbon cables attach on the front panel. Has anyone experienced this
before???? I do not have
the service manual and the boards have no silk screening to aid in
troubleshooting anyway.
Any help would be appreciated. This is most frustrating.
