In terms of the tuner mod, do you know if it really increases the tuner's
matching range, or does it just
chance the SWR foldback circuit so your rig won't cut back the power as
aggressively into a mismatched antenna?
I ask because there was a mod like that for the Yaesu FT847 and the FC-20
tuner, but the general consensus
was that it just fooled the SWR protection circuit.  If one is not careful
that can lead to many burned out finals.

Now the FT847 didn't have a built in SWR meter so you really couldn't tell
just by looking what was going on.
The FT450 does have a built in SWR meter.  So I am taking it that after the
mod the rig's SWR meter will show
a 1:1 SWR when using the tuner on some mismatched antennas?
