Gary brought up an interesting point about my retrofit of the Dentron
GLA-1000, the tube size is taller than the original case allows.
Well, the trick would be to make a larger case, top, or use all the
proper parts in a diff chassis.
With much talking to a good friend in my local machine shop, it looks
like a new front and rear panel would do the trick. A bar type spacer
down the side takes care of the "lifted lid" space.

Another pain in the pa-zoo is the built in diversion to a 2nd antenna
port or termination (dummy load). Although a novel idea, I would prefer
less "stray" hardware in the amp and switch to the load through a better
quality switch.

I'd like to ask about the parasitic suppressor. Is there a written
process to design the proper values into a suppressor? If so where...?

Thanks Much

Mine looks like it only has about 0.5 inches below the chassis before you
hit the bottom cover. The sockets currently sit on top of the PCB about
0.45 inches. I guess if you moved the PC board to the bottom of the
chassis and lowered it slightly with shims or washers, and perhaps found
shallower sockets, you might pick up maybe a maximum of a quarter inch??
That might be just enough to squeeze in the EL509's. You'd have to
insulate the bottom cover well, just in case.
I'd still rather have a heftier tube in there that won't pop after 15
seconds of keydown.
Waddaya think?
