The two most common failures in the BTI amplifier are leaky filter 
capacitors and a toasted bandswitch.  Digikey now carries Panasonic 500V 
electrolytic filter capacitors.  Multitech Corp. makes replacement 
bandswitches.  The BTI info is near the top of my Web site.  Photo

-  An improved substitute for the 3-1000Z is the 3cx1200Z7, which has 
1/10 as much feedback C as the orig. bottle.  Thus, it is less squirrelly 
 at VHF.
