I've been working with class E for a few years, and have constructed
several solid state class E transmitters for 160, 80 and 40 meters. It is
fairly easy to attain high power, and the devices used (at least for these
bands) are very inexpensive ($2.50 per MOSFET).
There are a number of amateurs across the country, and several in the New
England area who are using class E transmitters.
