All,
Most know that the art of soldering should have some set standards of pass or
fail. What I use, and try to adhere to, is the government standards, in
partucular NASA standards. Below is some links to available documants provided
by NASA. One part though, you must register to gain access. I doubt this will
be a problem to UK residents, other countries, I'm not sure. All you have to do
is give them your full name, password you want, e-mail address, and the
buisness your associated with. You may just be able to put "self" under the
business portion. If not, feel free to use my business name of "Amateur
Transformer & Supply". This is only for members of this list so please do not
let anyone else use the name. This is very good reading, and also has good
pictorials of bad and good solder joints for every concievable joint there is.
It also shows the proper lead terminations for different terminals.

Registered public access (use public access link to register);
After registering and receiving your login info by e-mail, you will go to a
search engine page. Type in solder or soldering under "Title Keywords" and it
will give a bunch of different ones. When you find the one you want, click on
the document number, and you will go to a page where you request the document
be e-mailed to you by the librarian.

Hope this can be of use to some on the list.
Best,
Will
