At least 15 years ago my works had a Minolta unit, looked like a small
cine camera. I don't remember the exact spec., but I think the
dispertion was about 1:100 - at 4" spot size was about 1mm and you could
comfortably read the temperature of a chip capacitor. Aiming was via
direct view optics. I think it cost a bit under £1000, something over
$1500 at the exchange rate then. I wish I could have held onto it when
the place went under.
