Ive worked on 3-400/3-500 amps on their side since the tube came out and
never had a failure even when doing quick tuning at reduced power.
I suspect failure reports are either urban myths or due to those Eimac and
other tubes that had the plates come apart from inadaquate assembly. This
was a big problem with some late 80's Eimacs as well as many early Chinese
when they tried to save money by crimping instead of spot welding.
