For what it's worth, I have used some "High-Temp
Silicone" manufactured by "By The Fire Hearth
Products". It is intended for "sealing gas appliance
venting, heating ducts, and general high temp sealing
applications." Quoted temperature range -65C > +316C!
Probably overkill for a chimney, but it is readily
available, and IIRC cost about $15 for the tube.
