Actually it won't matter. Just use some heat conducting paint, like what was
called Barbeque Paint. It's true that there were all kinds of stories about
its high lead content but, as long as you don't lick the transformers, it
probably won't matter. As for the color the darker the better, since it will
radiate the heat better.

Hi all,

I am currently refurbing a SB-220 and I'm using transformers from
other units.  These transformers are dusty and I was thinking about
re-painting them black for that "new" look.

I can't think of any reason why it would matter, but something tells
me I should ask rather than assume.  There have been some posts
regarding weird things happening with transformers, so I thought it
best to check with the pros.

What do you think?
