I would think that Heyboer has something compatible for a lot less. I paid 
less than that for a dual 1800/2200VAc @ 1.4A CCS regular E-I last year.

Look at a LK-500 internal xfmr, that will run about 2600DC @ 800ma to a pair 
of 3-500's all day and isnt that big.
